New York Governor Kathy Hochul is furious after President Trump officially terminated New York City’s controversial congestion pricing plan, which would have imposed hefty tolls on drivers entering Manhattan.
Hochul claims the move will create “budgetary issues” for the state, which had banked on the revenue from charging working-class commuters. But critics are firing back, pointing out the $12 BILLION New York is already spending on housing and benefits for illegal immigrants.
“If she’s so worried about the budget, maybe start by cutting the billions being handed out to illegals,” said one conservative analyst.
The congestion pricing plan, which was set to take effect this month, was projected to cost drivers up to $23 per day just to enter parts of Manhattan. The move sparked backlash from small businesses, commuters, and truckers, who warned it would crush the economy and increase the cost of goods.
With Trump shutting it down, New Yorkers are celebrating a huge win for drivers and taxpayers—while Hochul scrambles to explain how she plans to fill the gap in the state’s bloated budget.
