A protester was briefly detained and then released after allegedly spitting on entrepreneur and podcast host Patrick Bet-David at a DOGE appreciation event in Washington, D.C.
The incident took place during a gathering celebrating the rise of Dogecoin, where Bet-David was in attendance as a speaker. Witnesses say the individual approached him aggressively before spitting on him in what appeared to be a deliberate act of hostility.
Despite the blatant assault, authorities quickly detained the suspect but later released them without charges, sparking outrage among event attendees and supporters.
“Why was he released?” many are asking, as concerns grow over leniency toward politically motivated disruptions. Some are calling for stricter consequences for such actions, arguing that spitting on someone constitutes assault and should not be taken lightly.
Neither Bet-David nor local law enforcement have issued a formal statement regarding the altercation.
