Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has outright rejected the idea of stepping down to secure a peace deal, pushing back against growing calls—including from U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham—that his departure could bring an end to the war.
During a tense interview with Bret Baier, Zelensky was asked directly:
Baier: “You’re not gonna step down to do a peace deal?”
Zelensky: “No. No. I’m not, I’m not sure that is a good idea… Only the Ukrainian people can decide that.”
Zelensky’s defiance comes as Ukraine struggles with battlefield losses, dwindling Western aid, and increasing frustration from allies. Critics argue his stubbornness is prolonging the war, while his supporters claim he is standing firm against Russian aggression.
With Ukraine’s future hanging in the balance, one question remains: Is Zelensky leading his country to victory—or destruction?
