President Joe Biden’s sexual assault accuser Tara Reade has defected to Moscow after fearing she might end up in prison or dead. Biden’s team denied her assault allegations and denied that she is in danger here.
White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates said: “I won’t attempt to speak for an aspiring Russian citizen, the convicted Russian spy who’s sponsoring her, or the foreign government with which she has chosen to align.”
Reade said: “When I got off the plane in Moscow, for the first time in a very long time, I felt safe. And I felt heard and felt respected. I’m still kind of in a daze a bit, but I feel very good.
“I feel very surrounded by protection and safety.”
“I just really so appreciate Maria (Butina) and everyone who’s been giving me protection at a time when it’s been very difficult to know if I’m safe or not.
“I just didn’t want to walk home and walk into a cage or be killed, which is basically my two choices.”
A reporter asked admin official John Kirby about the defection and about Reade’s claims.
REPORTER: “Tara Reade…announced yesterday she’s seeking citizenship in Russia, and she feels safer there…”
KIRBY: “The allegations that her life was at risk by the United States government [are] absolutely false, baseless.”
