Fox News is feeling the pain after the shock firing of network star Tucker Carlson. And they have company. CNN is getting destroyed in ratings and Fox News has seen a steep drop since getting rid of Tucker.
CNN and Fox News both lost viewers year over year in May. But they saw massive losses in viewers during the critical primetime hours while MSNBC saw gains.
In the first full month since firing Tucker Carlson, Fox News brought in 1.42 million viewers in primetime, a 37% drop year over year.
CNN’s total primetime viewership sank to 494,000 viewers, a 25% year-over-year drop.
MSNBC averaged 1.16 million primetime viewers for a 14% percent gain compared to last year.
The primetime 18-54 demo numbers were even worse for Fox News and CNN.
Fox averaged 135,000 demo viewers between 8 and 11 p.m. for the month – a staggering 62% year-over-year drop.
MSNBC averaged 120,000 demo viewers which was a 14% increase.
CNN saw 113,000 demo viewers – a 25% drop from last May.
Fox’s The Five was the highest rated show on cable news with 2.6 million average total viewers and 267,000 in the critical demo.
Jesse Watters came in second place breaking the two million viewer mark.
Sean Hannity was the third most watched host on cable.
