GOP Rep Jim Jordan dropped the hammer on Attorney General Merrick Garland today during a contentious hearing. Garland looked lost and confused under questioning from the Republicans.
Jordan said at one point: “The fix is in. Even with the face-saving indictment last week of Hunter Biden, everyone knows the fix is in.”
Garland said he did not interfere with the Hunter Biden probe: “I promised the Senate when I came before it for confirmation that I would leave Mr. Weiss in place and that I would not interfere with his investigation.
“I’m not going to get into the internal deliberations of the department, I made clear that if Weiss wanted to bring a case in any jurisdiction, he would be able to do that.
“We will not be intimidated. We will do our jobs free from outside interference. And we will not back down from defending our democracy.”
Jordan fired back: “You said David Weiss had complete authority, but he’d already been turned down.
“He wanted to bring an action in D.C. and the US Attorney there said, ‘No, you can’t’ — and then you go tell the U.S. Senate, under oath, that he has complete authority?!”
