Body Found Of Black Male Paddleboarder Who Drowned In Pond On Obama’s Martha’s Vineyard Estate



Massachusetts State Police said they have found the body of the missing black paddleboarder who drowned in a pond on Barack Obama’s Martha’s Vineyard estate. 

Massachusetts State Police said: “Shortly before 10 AM the body of the missing paddle boarder was recovered from Edgartown Great Pond by Massachusetts State Police divers. 

“MSP Underwater Recovery Unit divers made the recovery after the victim’s body was located by a Massachusetts Environmental Police Officers deploying side-scan sonar from a boat.

“As previously noted, the victim is a 43-year-old male. 

“His name is not being released at this time; we expect to release his name later today.

“The recovery was made approximately 100 feet from shore at a depth of about eight feet.

“The investigation into the fatality is being conducted by the State Police Detective Unit for the Cape and Islands District and Edgartown Police.’

An earlier 911 call and dispatch address for the ‘possible drowning’ of an African American male came from Barack Obama’s Martha’s Vineyard home. 

Witnesses told the police the man went underwater, popped up, struggled to stay afloat, before going down again around 7.46pm.

It is not clear if the former president is at the estate. The missing man was 43 according to reports.

According to the MV Times:

A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter was on site and Massachusetts State Police provided aerial support. Mass Police also deployed an underwater recovery unit with assistance from Massachusetts Environmental Police. 

Massachusetts State Police issued a release Sunday night saying that at 7:46 pm, Martha’s Vineyard police and fire agencies responded to a call concerning an adult male paddle boarder who had gone into the water, appeared to briefly struggle to stay on the surface, and then submerged and did not resurface.

First responders were dispatched to 79 Turkeyland Cove Road — former President Barack Obama’s Katama estate.

Officers had been dispatched to the residence for a “possible drowning” of an African American male who’d gone missing while out paddleboarding.

He was last seen wearing all black without a life preserver.
