Concealed Carry Holder Stops Chicago Thief Dead In Tracks, Shoots Burglar And Sends To Hospital

A concealed carry holder in Chicago stopped an attempted burglary of a Chicago business by shooting the thief and sending him to the hospital. The 18-year-old suspected burglar was shot in the leg, hospitalized, and arrested but he almost got away with it if not for some quick thinking cops.

The thief picked a business in Chicago’s Lincoln Square neighborhood to break into but his plan backfired when a man was inside the closed business. The man said he heard a sound coming from the building’s back door around midnight Sunday.

When he went to check it out he found an 18-year-old man attempting to break into the building. The 40-year-old man, who possesses a valid firearm owner identification card, opened fire on the thief.

He hit him in the leg.

The suspect fled the scene but was caught when police responded to a call of a ‘person shot.’

The suspect told police he was shot by a passing car but turned white as a ghost when another call came in about the burglary attempt.

The cops figured it out and the suspect was transported to the Illinois Masonic Medical Center for treatment. Charges and pending and he was listed in fair condition.

According to CWBChicago:

Chicago police officers who responded to calls of a person shot in the 4700 block of North Talman around 11:45 p.m. found an 18-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his legs. The man initially told officers that someone shot at him from a black car.

But officers said the man clammed up after police received another 911 call about a burglary attempt at a business in the 2600 block of West Lawrence. Police determined that a 40-year-old man inside the business shot the 18-year-old, who was trying to enter through the back door, according to a CPD media statement.

According to WGN:

According to police, further investigation revealed the 18-year-old was shot by a 40-year-old man who was inside a commercial business the 18-year-old was breaking into.

Police said the 40-year-old heard a noise at the rear door of the business and found the 18-year-old attempting to gain entry to the establishment, which was closed at the time.
