Country music legend Toby Keith’s representatives offered some good news about his battle with stomach cancer. They said the 61-year-old is “feeling good” and is hoping to be on the “road again soon.”
Keith’s representatives told Fox News yesterday about the change in his condition and that they “are anticipating Toby will be on the road again soon.”
“All of this is good news,” his reps said. Toby has taken more than a year hiatus from the stage.
Earlier he announced he was fighting stomach cancer when he was forced to cancel a charity event.
He was scheduled to appear at a charity he holds dear to his heart, Sabeswings’, but had to cancel because “he is still in recovery” and is having “a tough week,” therefore, he is “not yet up for the travel.”
Toby Keith was set to receive the Sabeswings Second Annual Lifetime Achievement Award for his work with cancer patient support programs through the Toby Keith Foundation and the OK Kids Korral.
According to the event organizer, Keith is “heartbroken” that he is unable to attend because he is very “passionate about these charities.”
Keith shared on Instagram news about the award earlier:
“Next week, Toby will be honored by his friend #MLB legend @bretsaberhagen & his wife Kandace and receive the @sabeswings Second Annual Lifetime Achievement Award.
“Through his work with the @tkfoundation1, he’s been helping cancer patients and their families for years. The story about the cause is in the new @themagazinelifestyle, written by @liztaylorworld.”
Sabeswings said when they announced that Keith won the award:
“This year we are proud to announce that Toby Keith is the recipient of our Lifetime Achievement award.
“The Toby Keith Foundation has been helping children with cancer since 2006 and has streamlines its efforts around no-cost housing for children with cancer.”
One instagram user said:
“YOU GIVE AND NEVER TAKE Toby!
“So deserving of this award.
“You WILL be remembered for years and years to come sweetheart!
“You are so LOVED MY COWBOY! Forever praying for you!”
