Country music legend Dolly Parton brought down the house last night at the Academy of Country Music Awards with a threesome joke. Dolly co-hosted the event with another legend Garth Brooks.
During the opening monologue at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, Brooks honored Parton as the “G.O.A.T. or the “greatest of all time.”
Dolly came out on the stage pulling a real-life goat in a cart. “Did I hear you say you were looking for a goat?” she said. “I think someone needs to come take her ba-a-a-ack.” She added, “That was such a ba-a-a-ad joke!”
Dolly said of Garth, “He changed the name of country music forever. In a flash, he became one of the biggest stars of all time.”
Garth said of Dolly, “I think I speak for everybody — not just in Texas but around the world — when I say we will always love you.”
Then Parton said she heard she was a “hall pass” for Brooks and his wife Trisha Yearwood.
“I just had a thought,” Parton said. “I know why you’re doing the goat thing. I think it stands for ‘Garth organized a threesome.’”
Brooks got all red in the face and responded, “And I thought I couldn’t love you anymore.”
Chris Stapleton won the entertainer of the year award at the ACMS. He said:
“I’ve never thought of myself as somebody who would win this award, and I’m so grateful.”
