Fox News reached a last-minute settlement with Dominion Voting Systems hours before the defamation trial was to start. The settlement spares both sides a long and difficult trial
Judge Davis informed the court of the decision: “The parties have resolved the case.” The judge dismissed the jury after thanking them for their service.
Judge Davis applauded the professionalism of the legal teams for both sides saying, “I would be proud to be your judge in the future.” Fox Corp. released a statement that said:
“We are pleased to have reached a settlement of our dispute with Dominion Voting Systems.
“We acknowledge the court’s rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false.
“This settlement reflects Fox’s continued commitment to the highest journalistic standards. We are hopeful that our decision to resolve this dispute with Dominion amicably, instead of the acrimony of a divisive trial, allows the country to move forward from these issues.”
The terms are not known at this time. Dominion had sued Fox News for $1.6 billion.
Dominion dropped the .6B before the trial so one should expect a settlement of around $1 billion.
