A Georgia homeowner fatally shot dead an intruder trying to break into his house around 5:30 a.m. Thursday. Shocked neighbors were eating their breakfast when they heard the shots ring out in DeKalb County.
A neighbor, Melan Sydnor, said: “I was in the kitchen and then there were gunshots and it was really loud. I heard a few gunshots and then about five minutes later the police pulled up.”
Neighbor Joann Proctor, said: “Young guys are stalking the neighborhood at night, like 4-5 in the morning, they checking doors. What you just told me really upset me ‘cuz that could be one of my neighbors or me.”
Neighbor Sandy Mize said:
“We didn’t hear any shots, but around here, there are guns going off all the time.
“Oh yeah, it’s all the time.
“This is a bad neighborhood. Just a lot of crime.”
“I just think it’s a sad state of affairs for the country,” one unidentified neighbor said.
“In this case, somebody having a gun was a good thing.”
