Hollywood star Jonathan Majors was arrested on charges of assault, strangulation and harassment involving a woman in a New York apartment Saturday.
New York City police responded to a 911 call from an apartment near West 22nd Street and 8th Avenue at about 11:14 a.m. Saturday where they found that Majors was involved in a “domestic dispute” with a 30-year-old woman.
The woman told police she was assaulted. She was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries to her head and neck. Majors was arrested. “The victim informed police she was assaulted. Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident,” NYPD said.
A representative for Majors said: “He has done nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up.”
Majors was in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Creed III, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Da 5 Bloods, Lovecraft Country, Loki, and The Harder They Fall.
According to The Hollywood Reporter:
The actor was arrested on charges of strangulation, assault and harassment, according to the spokesperson.
He is no longer in police custody. His relationship with the woman was described only as “domestic.”
According to The Direct:
As news of Jonathan Majors’ arrest broke, Twitter users began making their perspectives known about the Avengers 5 actor.
Back in February, filmmaker A.B. Allen tweeted about a beloved “actor … who, in actuality, is a vicious, cruel, abusive human being:”
“There’s a particular actor, relatively new on the scene, who Twitter has violently fallen head over heels for who, in actuality, is a vicious, cruel, abusive human being, both professionally and in his personal life, and every new viral thirst tweet about him drives me insane.”
Following the news of Majors’ arrest, a user tweeted “Now we know who this tweet was about,” with a screenshot of A.B. Allen’s previous post. Allen then simply responded “Ding / Ding / Ding / Ding.”
