President Joe Biden opened his mouth yesterday and lost re-election with one statement. The one Achilles heel for the Democrats has always been immigration. That is why Barack Obama deported more people than Donald Trump. Obama knows if we don’t have borders we don’t have a country.
But Joe Biden seems to be unaware of the basic law of politics and admitted yesterday that the southern border will be chaotic for a while. Biden said the administration is preparing for a surge in migrants and the White House was working to make the transition orderly. “But it remains to be seen,” he told said. “It’s going to be chaotic for a while.”
“We believe we have a robust process to deal with what is going to occur after Title 42 lifts. Again, we’re using the tools that are available to us because Congress refuses to do their job as it relates to the border,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said
According to NBC, Biden’s plan itself will create some of the chaos:
The Biden administration is now preparing a memo that will direct Customs and Border Protection to begin releasing migrants into the United States without court dates or the ability to track them, according to three sources familiar with the plans.
The Biden administration began releasing migrants without court dates to alleviate overcrowding in March 2021, but had previously enrolled those migrants in a program known as Alternatives to Detention, which required them to check in on a mobile app until they were eventually given a court date.
The new policy would release them on “parole” with a notice to report to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement office but without enrolling them in the program.
The more than 11,000 border apprehensions in a single day is a record and surpasses expectations of 10,000 per day predicted by Department of Homeland Security officials on what could come when Covid restrictions lift late Thursday.
“We’re already breaking and we haven’t hit the starting line,” one DHS official told NBC News, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the person isn’t authorized to talk to the media.
A DHS spokesperson said the new policy will apply only to migrants who have been carefully vetted.
“As Republican and Democratic administrations alike have done in the past to protect the safety and security of Border Patrol agents and migrants in the event of severe overcrowding conditions, U.S. Border Patrol sectors may consider the use of parole for certain migrants who have undergone strict national security and public safety vetting,” the spokesperson said.
This comes after a Venezuelan migrant was arrested three times since he arrived in Chicago three weeks ago.
Judge Maryam Ahmad said: “Here’s where I’m going with this, just so we’re clear. These are individuals who’ve not been in the country very long. You’re now telling me that they were arrested at Macy’s, committing a felony retail theft.
“So the court wants some idea of who is in front of me. Additionally, as the public defender just indicated, one person has already indicated he’s using another name. So, who are these people? Who are these individuals?”
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot declared a state of emergency due to the influx of migrants. She said:
“Sadly, we don’t expect the buses to stop arriving anytime soon, and importantly, we’ve seen, in the last couple of weeks, a new surge of migrants coming to Chicago on a daily basis. It’s worse now and it’s going to get worse before it gets better.
“We will always do right by our immigrant and refugee communities, but we’ve reached a breaking point.”
