President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden has just been indicted by special counsel David Weiss on felony gun charges. This comes after Hunter’s sweetheart deal blew up in his face after U.S. Judge Maryellen Noreika expressed concern over the structure of the agreement and questioned the breadth of an immunity deal.
The House GOP is preparing to impeach President Joe Biden of the shady Biden family influence-peddling business. Hunter was indicted on three counts related to his 2018 purchase of a handgun in which he lied about not being a drug addict on the federal license form.
According to NBC: The case is being overseen by special counsel David Weiss, who also headed the investigation.
Weiss is a Trump appointee who was kept on as U.S. attorney for Delaware because of the sensitive and unique nature of the investigation into a president’s son by the Justice Department, a part of the executive branch headed by the president. U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland named Weiss special counsel in August, as negotiations over the tax and gun charges collapsed.
According to ABC:
Prosecutors subsequently informed the court that a new round of negotiations had reached “an impasse,” and attorneys for Hunter Biden accused Weiss’ office of “reneging” on their agreement.
Hunter Biden’s legal team maintains that the pretrial diversion agreement, which was signed by prosecutors, remains in effect. Weiss’ team said the probation officer never signed it, rendering it null and void.
