Judge Throws Book At Woman Who Mailed Ricin To Trump, Sentences Her To 22 Years In Prison And Lifetime Of Supervised Release

Pascale Cecile Veronique Ferrier, a dual citizen of France and Canada, sent threatening letters containing homemade ricin to then-President Donald Trump in September 2020.

Today US District Judge Dabney L. Friedrich sentenced Ferrier to 262 months in prison, ordered her to be permanently deported from the US after she completes her prison term, and imposed a lifetime sentence of supervised release.

“This woman did not succeed in her efforts to poison numerous public officials in our district, but her actions still created fear and stress for many of these dedicated public servants,” said U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani.

“We are grateful for the hard work of the FBI and our other law enforcement partners in identifying and apprehending her.”

“In addition to her intended targets, Pascale Ferrier’s reckless actions could have harmed postal employees, first responders, or innocent bystanders,” said David Sundberg, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI Washington Field Office.

“Today’s plea agreement demonstrates the FBI’s and our partners’ determination to investigate and bring to justice those who seek to harm or intimidate government officials or law enforcement officers.”

“There is absolutely no place for politically motivated violence in the United States of America,” assistant US attorney Michael Friedman said.

The judge said, “This was potentially deadly. It’s harmful to you, harmful to society, harmful to the potential victims.”

Ferrier appeared at the hearing in an orange prison jumpsuit expressed no remorse for her actions.

“I consider myself to be an activist, not a terrorist,” she said.

“Activists are constructive, terrorists are destructive.

“The only regret I have is that it didn’t work and that I couldn’t stop Trump.”

The letters she sent Trump said, “If it doesn’t work, I will find a better recipe for another poison.

“I might use my gun when I will be able to come.

“You ruin USA and lead them to disaster.

“I have US cousins, then I don’t want the next 4 years with you as President.

“Give up and remove your application for this election,” she said.
