Kayleigh McEnany Proves Trump Case Is Flimsy: ‘Even the liberal media is defending Trump, I don’t know that I can remember a time when that’s happened’

“Outnumbered” co-host Kayleigh McEnany proved the weakness of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case against Trump by pointing out who was defending the former President.

McEnany said some of the biggest Trump critics were trashing the case and predicting a quick acquittal for Trump. Kayleigh said: “We talked about the unlikely allies for the former president this week, Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney came out saying this was a flimsy, flimsy case, but an even more unlikely ally is the press.

“I mean, these remarks are remarkably lucid and candid from the press, ABC: this is the sloppiest statement of fact I’ve ever seen in a major case. That’s an ABC reporter. CBS legal experts say Trump’s felony charges will be difficult to prove.

“Washington Post’s Ruth Marcus: the indictment unsealed on Tuesday is disturbingly unilluminating. So he’s found an unlikely defender in the press.

“I don’t know that I can remember a time when that happened.

“So my advice to President Trump would be let the media defend you on this because they’re doing it even on CNN.

“Focus on 2024, the issues for the American people [that are] really important right now. There’s a yearning to hear about a lot of these issues.

Former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, a fierce Trump critic said:

“If I had to characterize it, it’s a disappointment. I think everyone was hoping we would see more about the direction that they intend to take this prosecution.

“What is the legal theory that ties that very solid misdemeanor case 34 counts of misdemeanors to the intent to conceal another crime, which is what makes it a felony? It simply isn’t there.”

John Bolton, Trump’s former national security adviser, said “As someone who very strongly does not want Donald Trump to get the Republican presidential nomination, I’m extraordinarily distressed.

“I think this is even weaker than I feared it would be, and I think it’s easily subject to being dismissed or a quick acquittal for Trump. There is no basis in the statutory language to say that Trump’s behavior forms either a contribution or an expenditure under federal law.

“If you can construe the statute to cover this behavior, then I think it violates the First Amendment.”

Mitt Romney said:

“I believe President Trump’s character and conduct make him unfit for office. Even so, I believe the New York prosecutor has stretched to reach felony criminal charges in order to fit a political agenda.

“No one is above the law, not even former presidents, but everyone is entitled to equal treatment under the law.

“The prosecutor’s overreach sets a dangerous precedent for criminalizing political opponents and damages the public’s faith in our justice system.”
