A lip reader has given their take on what Donald Trump whispered to Melania during their first dance at his inaugural ball yesterday (20 January).
During his inauguration ceremony, 78-year-old Trump and Melania, 54, were joined by Vice President JD Vance and second lady Usha Vance.
Trump, who is the first person convicted of a felony to assume the presidency, wore a tuxedo while the first lady donned a white strapless gown with black line detailing.
The couple attended three inaugural balls in one night, starting off at the military-themed Commander-in-Chief Ball where they danced to a cover of Elvis Presley’s ‘An American Trilogy’.
They then headed to the nearby Liberty Ball, where they danced onstage with the entire Trump family, before going to Union Station for the Starlight Ball to round off the evening.
“We needed three because we have such support,” Trump told the crowd at the Liberty Ball which took place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
And in one clip taken during the Commander-in-Chief Ball, lip reader Jeremy Freeman told Tyla that Trump said to Melania: “Nobody let me down today.”
The expert also analysed another clip taken during their dance at the Liberty Ball.
“Today is one we will never forget,” the first lady reportedly said to her husband, prompting him to reply: “You’re right there, I’ll learn I’ll fight.”
According to Jeremy, Melania then assured: “I got you.”
“We’ll see,” Trump is said to have responded, adding: “Will you control it, unless it’s tricky less pushing away.”
“It’s a no,” Melania said while Trump assured: “I hear you.”
“I waited for him until half an hour ago,” Melania added. “But we can smile still.”
Elsewhere in the day, Trump made some pretty bizarre comments about Melania’s feet during his post-inauguration speech.
He shared an exchange he had with his wife during the day, saying: “I have a first lady who has been incredible.
“I shouldn’t say this. I’m going to get hell when I say this, but her feet are absolutely aching. You know, those heels.”
He continued to explain that he and Melania ‘thought they were leaving’ before someone came up to him and asked him to ‘say hello’ to some of his other fans.
According to the Trump, Melania said: “Darling, I love you so much, but my feet are killing me.”
“I said, ‘Honey, let me just see how far it is’,” he continued to recall, explaining he was informed the walk was ‘maybe four or 500 yards’.
“That’s five football fields,” Trump declared. “I said, ‘Can you make it?’”
He then revealed exactly what Melania’s response was to the situation: “She said, ‘We’re going to make it. No matter what, we’re going to make it because we have to go’.”
The crowd then erupted into a chorus of cheers following the president’s anecdote.
