New York City Mayor Eric Adams issued a warning to Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene in response to her plans to visit New York to protest the arraignment of former President Donald Trump on Tuesday.
Adams said: “Although we have no specific threats, people like Marjorie Taylor green, who is known to spread misinformation and hate speech – she stated she is coming to town.
“While you’re in town. Be on your best behavior. As always, we will not allow violence or vandalism of any kind. If one is caught participating in any act of violence, they will be arrested and held accountable.”
White House spokesperson John Kirby said: “We’ll be prepared, should there be a need, but hopefully there won’t be that need.
“There should be no need for anybody to want to visit violence on fellow citizens around this or any other legal proceeding.
“Violence has no place in the United States. Peaceful protest has very much value place in our democracy.”
Greene originally told her supporters not to protest Trump’s indictment but changed her mind and will now travel to the big apple to protest.
She said:
“I changed my mind because we — it’s our First Amendment right.
“And we have a right to protest. And it’s so absolutely horrible what Alvin Bragg has done, and he’s truly crossed the line with our justice system.”
“I also reject any attempt and anyone who dresses in MAGA but incites violence or commits violence while pretending to be one of us.
“You are not one of us, you are one of them.”
