Officials reveal what was said in ‘horrendous’ Donald Trump call over buying Greenland that ‘freaked them out’

The alleged contents of Donald Trump’s ‘horrendous’ chat about buying Greenland with Denmark’s PM has been revealed.

The alleged contents of Donald Trump’s ‘horrendous’ chat about buying Greenland with Denmark’s PM has been revealed.

The president, who was sworn in on Monday (20 January), hasn’t wasted any time since he was reinstated as commander-in-chief.

Between signing a host of executive orderssacking White House staff, revamping the Oval Office and reinstalling his Diet Coke button, this guy has had a seriously busy week.

Oh, and he’s ordered for the secret files on John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr’s assassinations to be declassified too.

As I’m sure you can gather, Trump’s had a lot on his plate at the minute – however, he apparently still found the time to give Mette Frederiksen an earbashing last week.

The 78-year-old reportedly had a heated 45-minute conversation with the Danish leader, who has been in office since June 2019, to discuss the prospect of purchasing Greenland.

Before his return to the White House, Trump announced that he and his government were very interested in acquiring the self-governing country.

In fact, he described it as an ‘absolute necessity’ – and Republican lawmakers drew up a bill which will allow the 47th president to start negotiations.

In a post shared last month on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote: “For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity.

“Greenland is an incredible place. The people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation. We will protect it, cherish it, from a very vicious outside World.

“MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!”

Although officials in the nation have made it ‘very clear’ Greenland is not for sale, as we all know, Trump isn’t one to go down without a fight.

That’s why he hopped on a ‘fiery’ phone call with Frederiksen last week – which Danish officials have described as ‘horrendous’, according to the Financial Times.

Despite offering to increase Greenland-US cooperation on military bases and natural resources, Frederiksen was still sent away with a flea in her ear.

What happened on Trump’s Greenland phone call?

Officials who wished to remain anonymous told the publication that Trump was fiery, aggressive and confrontational when conversing with the PM.

“He was very firm,” one unnamed source said. “It was a cold shower. Before, it was hard to take it seriously. But I do think it is serious, and potentially very dangerous.”

Another said that authorities have been left ‘utterly freaked out’ by Trump’s remarks, adding: “The intent was very clear. They want it. The Danes are now in crisis mode.”

Frederiksen previously reiterated the words of Greenland’s prime minister, Mute Egede, when discussing the possibility of Greenland being put on the market.

What has Greenland’s prime minister said?

The 47-year-old said the politician has been ‘very, very clear … there is a lot of support among the people of Greenland that Greenland is not for sale and will not be in the future’.

Egede has previously called for independence from Denmark, but he has no interest in becoming a part of the US instead.

Greenland – which is the world’s largest island and is situated in a strategically important part of the Arctic region – has a population of just 57,000 people.

But these lot apparently aren’t keen on the idea of Trump taking over either, according to politician Aaja Chemnitz.

The MP, who is a Greenlandic member of the Danish parliament, revealed that ‘most people don’t want’ his pipe dream about acquiring Greenland to come true.

“I think some people find it quite disrespectful,” Chemnitz said. “And the way it has been done, and just the fact that you’re saying that you can buy another country.”

At the start of the month, the president’s son Donald Trump Jr took a trip to Greenland weeks after his dad first shared the idea about taking it over.

Trump’s oldest child said he was enjoying a ‘personal day-trip’ and that he didn’t have any meetings planned with government officials.

He first floated the idea about buying the island during his first term in office.
