Robert De Niro tried to bash former President Donald Trump during the Cannes Film Festival news conference but ended up humiliating himself instead.
De Niro’s latest movie is the Martin Scorsese-directed “Killers Of The Flower Moon.” Other actors in the movie include Leonardo DiCaprio, Ernest Burkhart, William Hale, Lily Gladstone, Mollie Burkhart, and Jesse Plemons. The movie is about a series of murders in Oklahoma.
De Niro got clever with his first attempt to bash Trump. The smug star took his swipe and was so proud of himself that he bragged about refusing to say Trump’s name. But within minutes he embarrassed himself and reversed course and got called out by Scorcese.
“I don’t understand a lot about my character,” said De Niro.
“Part of him is sincere.
“The other part, where he’s betraying, there’s a feeling of entitlement.
“It’s the banality of evil.
“It’s the thing we have to watch out for.
“And we see it today, of course.
“We all know who I’m going to talk about.
“But I won’t say the name.
“Because that guy is stupid.
“Imagine if you’re smart. Even Hale was smart in many ways.”
Lily Gladstone said that members of the Osage tribe attended Hale’s(De Niro’s character) funeral because they “believed until the day he died, and after, that he was their friend, that he wasn’t guilty of what he was charged of.”
That was too much for De Niro who said:
“I mean, look with Trump.
“You said it,” Scorsese mocked him.
“I hate to say it, I hate to say it,” De Niro said.
“But we see what that is, and there are people who think that could do a good job. “Imagine that.
“How insane that is.
“That’s all I’ll say.”
If Hollywood and De Niro could erase the propaganda the media brainwashed them about Trump with they could at least agree that that Trump did none thing good.
Their new cause is Ukraine now. Obama was too afraid to give Ukraine advanced weapons. And Biden would have been too.
But Trump did. And after Trump opened the floodgates, Biden followed and Ukraine was able to hold off the invasion.
So it would be nice if they could at least acknowledge that Trump did something good for their new pet cause.
