Former President Donald Trump will join South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, R, for an event next month in her home state amid some vice presidential chatter surrounding the governor.
The former president will be attending the Monumental Leaders Rally in Rapid City on September 8 where Noem will be a special guest.
The event will mark Trump’s first time visiting the state since a Mount Rushmore event in 2020 for the Fourth of July.
Noem has been one of the Republicans rumored to be on a shortlist of vice presidential options for Trump in 2024.
The governor addressed the possibility in a Fox News interview this month saying she’d “consider” joining the Trump ticket if asked.
“Our country is breaking right in front of our very eyes today, and everybody should be a part of putting it back on its foundation,” she said. “And if President Trump is going to be back in the White House, I’d do all I can to help him be successful.”
