Former Fox News star Tucker Carlson reveals the real reason Fox News fired him in his new biography. Tucker told his biographer, Chadwick Moore, that the Murdochs had to settle a lawsuit with Dominion and that he was part of the deal.
Tucker said: “They agreed to take me off the air, my show off the air, as a condition of the Dominion settlement. They had to settle this; Rupert couldn’t testify. I think that deal was made minutes before the trial started. I mean, I know it was.”
Carlson said he was stunned by the firing and thought Suzanne Scott, the Fox News chief executive, was calling to congratulate him on the sixth anniversary of his move to the 8 pm primetime slot when she fired him.
“I was first confused, and then shocked,” he said.
“It was just, ‘We’re taking you off the air.’
“No explanation why, and they’ve let me guess ever since.
“That’s literally all I know.
“I asked if I violated my contract.
“They said, no, I’m not fired, I’m still under contract.”
Carlson’s biographer, Chadwick Moore, said, “Although Dominion has denied this, my sources have intimate knowledge of the situation and they have assured me even before this news leaked that that is in fact the truth.”
Fox News “categorically denied” that Carlson’s firing was a condition of the settlement. Dominion denied it as well.
Dominion issued a statement that said:
“As the Fox principals who negotiated the settlement well know, Dominion made no demands about Tucker Carlson’s employment orally or in writing.
“Any claims otherwise are categorically false and a thinly veiled effort to further damage Dominion.
“Fox should take every effort to stop these lies immediately.”
