While Chicago politicians make excuses for the armed thugs terrorizing the city, at least 30 people were robbed or carjacked during a 12-hour crime spree that started Sunday afternoon and ended Monday morning.
The crime is so bad that the armed thieves even hit a TV news crew this morning who were reporting on the skyrocketing crime in that great midwestern city. According to CWB Chicago:
“The newspeople were in the 1200 block of North Milwaukee early Monday when three or four masked men robbed them, according to preliminary information from the scene. An officer said the robbers were Black males wearing ski masks—one with a rifle, the others with handguns.
“Without identifying the victims as a news crew, a Chicago police spokesperson confirmed that a 28-year-old man and a 42-year-old man were outside in the 1200 block of North Milwaukee when a black SUV and a gray sedan pulled up around 4:53 a.m.
“Three men got out of the vehicles wearing ski masks and displaying guns. They took the victims’ belongings and fled southbound, police said. An initial police dispatch said the robbers took the journalists’ TV camera.”
The news is grim in Chicago while the new mayor sits on his hands or literally makes excuses for the lawbreakers:
In the 25th District robberies are up 107% this year. For the last 28 days, robberies were 322% higher than the same period last year.
The 14th District saw a 49% increase in robberies this year. The last 28 days saw a 190% increase from last year.
In the 12th District robberies are up 54% this year.
When the cops do catch the thieves almost 100% of them are on electronic surveillance for similar crimes. The politicians let them out with zero consequences and it is clear now, even to Democrats, that until there are consequences the crime wave will only get worse.
This is the second news crew robbed in Chicago this month.
From CWB Chicago Aug 8:
A Chicago TV news videographer was robbed while preparing to cover a press conference Tuesday afternoon on the West Side.
The 45-year-old victim was in the 2800 block of West Monroe when two men walked up and asked him for money around 2 p.m., according to a Chicago police spokesperson.
When he told them he had no money, one of the men tried to take his phone. But the victim pushed the man off and put his phone inside his vehicle, police said. Then he ran from the scene after the man pushed him to the ground.
The second offender broke a window on the victim’s vehicle and took two phones from inside, the CPD spokesperson said. Both offenders ran from the area.
