A newly released video captures the tense moment when Senator JD Vance was forced to de-escalate a confrontation with a group of pro-Ukraine activists who were harassing his three-year-old daughter.
Vance, who was out for a walk with his child, found himself followed and heckled by a group of “Slava Ukraini” protesters. The video shows him calmly addressing the older liberal women as they aggressively shouted about Ukraine, despite his daughter’s growing distress.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Vance explained what happened:
“Today while walking my 3-year-old daughter, a group of ‘Slava Ukraini’ protesters followed us around and shouted as my daughter grew increasingly anxious and scared.”
The Ohio senator attempted to defuse the situation by directly engaging with the activists.
“I decided to speak with the protesters in the hopes that I could trade a few minutes of conversation for them leaving my toddler alone. (Nearly all of them agreed.)”
Vance described the exchange as “mostly respectful,” but didn’t hold back his frustration:
“If you’re chasing a 3-year-old as part of a political protest, you’re a sh*t person.”
The video has sparked outrage online, with many condemning the protesters for targeting a child in their political activism.
