Former Acting ICE Director Tom Homan has formally requested that the Department of Justice (DOJ) launch an investigation into Democrat Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) for allegedly assisting illegal immigrants in evading Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Homan, a longtime advocate for strict border enforcement, has accused AOC of actively working against U.S. immigration laws by providing aid and guidance to illegal immigrants on how to avoid federal authorities. This request comes amid growing concerns that certain lawmakers are undermining national security by encouraging illegal immigration rather than enforcing existing laws.
AOC has long been a vocal critic of ICE and has supported sanctuary policies that shield illegal immigrants from deportation. However, Homan argues that her actions have crossed a legal line, warranting an official investigation.
“If any American citizen helped criminals evade law enforcement, they’d be prosecuted. So why should members of Congress be any different?” Homan stated in a recent interview.
The DOJ has yet to respond to the formal request, but many conservatives are demanding accountability, arguing that no one—including elected officials—should be above the law. With border security remaining a top issue in the upcoming election, this potential investigation could have major political ramifications for AOC and her progressive allies.
