In a tense and unexpected moment, President Donald Trump openly mocked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for what he called “gaslighting” the Trump administration.
During their heated exchange, Trump accused Zelenskyy of pretending to talk like him in an attempt to justify Ukraine’s refusal to negotiate peace.
“You’re running low on soldiers… And then you tell us, ‘I don’t wanna cease-fire. I don’t wanna cease-fire. I wanna go, and I wanted this,’” Trump said, mimicking Zelenskyy’s demands.
Trump then doubled down, saying “I think it’s good for the American people to see what’s going on.”
The moment underscores the growing divide between Trump and Zelenskyy, with Trump signaling frustration over continued U.S. involvement in the war. With Trump pushing for negotiations and Zelenskyy resisting a ceasefire, the future of U.S. support for Ukraine remains on shaky ground.
